Friend Makin' Monday

Hello Friends. It's time for Friend Makin' Monday again. Normally Kasey at All that is Good host but today Shawn over at Seriously is hosting FMM and in honor of July 4th she is asking about our 4th plans.

What are you doing this July 4th?
We are going to my uncle's house in the county. We will be grilling, eating homeade ice cream, swimming, playing volleyball & horseshoes. Most of my Mom's side of the family will be there. I'm excited, it's gonna be alot of fun.

What is your favorited dish to pass when attending a 4th of July party or summer barbecue?
Honestly, anything easy. I'm no cook & dont pretend to be. Most of the time my Mom cooks something or brings our part. Sad huh?

Do you have any July 4th traditions?
Not any specific traditions but almost every year the 4th is spent with family. Last year Henry's family was in town from Alabama so we spent the 4th with them in Texarkana. Then we came back to Shreveport for the big firework show downtown & spent time with my family.

Share your favorite July 4th pictures!
These pictures are from last year, which was Aleigha's first 4th of July.

Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!
Happy Friend Makin' Monday Y'all!

Just 15 Months Ago

This sweet lil' girl was born. Man she has

We go Thursday for her 15 month checkup
so I'll post then on what Dr. H has to say
about our big girl!

I Am Yours to Keep

You are a princess in my heart,
and I care for you so much.
I love the fondness in you eyes
and your tender little touch.
I looked at you when you were born,
and knew then straight away,
that I would be forever here
to watch you grow and play.
You bring to me a heart of joy,
and memories so great,
and a powerful sense of motherhood that no one can debate.
I watch you sleep and dream of things that I can only wonder.
That innocent look upon your face just makes my heart grow fonder.
I see you run and jump and shout and calling out my name.
No love that I have ever known could ever feel the same.
No suffering or tragedy nor deeply seated pain
could ever over shadow the bond that we retain.
And so my little princess before you go to sleep,
Remember I am your mommy and I am yours to keep.

Honest Scrap

"The Honest Scrap award comes with a caveat or two. Firstly, you have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know, but that are true. Secondly, you have to tag 10 people with the award. Thirdly, let all the people you've given the award to know that they've gotten it (comment on their blogs or something). And finally, make sure you link back to the person who awarded you."I got this award from Erin over at It's All About Alex! I found her blog about her daughter about a month or so ago through another blog and thought it was interesting! I am excited to have this award but not sure if I have 10 ten things to share! My blog is mainly about my daughter Aleigha so with this award you can learn 10 things about "Aleigha's Momma"

1. If it weren't for my parents/family I would love to move out of Louisiana...Austin, TX preferably.

2. Aleigha was not planned, she was a total surprise!

3. I have never broken a single bone in my body.

4. I had eye surgery twice as a baby.

5. I am a reality tv junkie.

6. I do NOT like to cook!

7. I want more than anything to get out of nursing school.

8. Photography classes at the local community college are in my near future.

9. Before I met Henry I did not want kids, not even 1!

10. I have really bad allergies (tree, mold, etc...) & I take shots for them.

Oh man that was hard to think of 10 things that people don't know about me but I did it! So I figured I would do like Alexandra's Mommy add 5 things you don't know about my daughter!

1. She is recently on a food strike

2. She will NOT nap at daycare

3. She loves when I take her shoes off

4. She has a tan line from her bathing suit (even though she's biracial)

5. She loves fish!

Now for 10 people to pass this on to! Hopefully I don't pick people who have already done this!

Father's Day

We were busy all weekend long & I had started & planned on posting a father's day post but we went out of town to spend Father's Day with my family. My dad is one of the most amazing men I know. He is thoughtful & kind and has helped us so very much. I dont know what I would do without him or my Mom. And I can't imagine a better Papaw for Aleigha. She'll get to see just how wonderful he is as the years go by. I love you Daddy.
As for Henry, I couldn't pick a better father for Aleigha. He's great in so many ways. They didn't start off on the best foot as she has been such a momma's girl the past year but seeing & hearing them run around the living room tonight playing and laughing brings joy to my heart. He left for softball & she was running after him not wanting him to leave, then she started blowing him kisses.
With that being said, we (Aleigha and I) have some of the best men in our lives. We love yall so much & would be lost without yall. Happy Father's Day!

Two New Teethies

I knew Aleigha had some teeth trying to come in & I try to check everyday but having all the nieces & nephews last week, well I kinda just forgot about her teeth. I knew she had been a little cranky & I knew it was because of teething and I really thought it was her bottoms. Nope I was wrong. While at her doctor's appointment yesterday morning, Dr. H layed her down to look at her throat & I thought I seen 2 teeth that broke skin. Yes indeed, her top 2 lateral incisors had came through. Just another one of those gushy milestones that us mommies get all worked up about & non-mommies think were totally crazy. So yes I got all worked up about, called Henry & my Mom to share the GOOD news. Just call me crazy but Monkey has 2 new teethies!

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

We spent the weekend at my mom & dad's swimming and we didn't want the kids running in & out of the house so I did not tell them to pee outside instead of going in. Nope, not me!
I am certainly not relieved that my 5 nieces and nephews are gone home. I am not tired of the arguing and being a referee between them all week. After a week I still did not get used to all the commotion and noise 5 extra kids in a house can produce. Not me! But I sure am gonna miss all of them.
Aleigha has had a runny nose & coughing since last weekend and we suspected it was just allergies so I did not want to take her to the pedi just to be told that it was in fact just allergies & there was nothing they could do. So I finally broke down this morning & did not take her to the pedi to just be told that it was just allergies turning into a sinus infection. She got a sucker for being good and fell asleep in the carseat with it in her hand & I did not bring her inside & lay her down for her nap sticky & all. What kind of mother would do that? Certainly Not me! While I was getting ready to take Aleigha to the doctor I did not turn around to see that she had my underwear around her neck like a necklace.

What did you not do last week?

Weekend Fun

This weekend was spent at my Mom & Dad's splashing around in the pool. The kids had been dying to swim all week & my parent's finally got there pool up & going, so there, a fun weekend of swimming, grilling & playing Hungry Hungry Hippo :)

She wanted to swim with the big kids

Update for Heart Appointment

Aleigha's heart check-up appointment went well Friday. Dr. J said she has received her diploma from the heart clinic. There were no signs of the murmur anymore & he said she was healthy as a horse. But I had to snap a few shots while we were there.

She was grinning til he came at

Heart Appointment

Last year at Aleigha's 1 month check-up her pediatrician informed us that she "heard" something & was pretty sure it was a heart murmur. She scheduled Aleigha an appointment with one of the few pediatric heart doctors in Shreveport so we waited a long 2 months before we could get in. I think I was more nervous during these few months than I had ever been. Even though Dr. H had said that it was probably nothing & even if it was a heart murmur that it would probably not cause any problems & eventually go away. Well she was right, at Aleigha's heart appointment, the doctor said that it was an "innocent" heart murmur & by the time she was a year old it would probably be gone so he would just see us back then. That brings us to date, her appointment is tomorrow & I'm praying that it is gone but at the same time I feel so much guilt. I follow some very sad blogs, that are absolutely heartbreaking. To hear of all the struggle & pain they go through is awful. Their babies suffer from very serious heart, lung, etc... conditions and to read some of these blogs is so touching because the parents seem so strong while dealing with everything they have on their plate & I'm not so sure I would be as strong as they are. All I can do is pray for these families & I do, but here I am wishing Aleigha's appointment goes well tomorrow that just consist of an innocent heart murmur, and that is why I feel so guilty. I thank God everyday for giving me a healthy baby!

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Here's a little peak at what we haven't been up to.

Today I am just not feeling it so I would never be blogging at work, nope Not me!

I did not let Aleigha eat cookies for lunch the other day because she wouldn't eat anything else. Nope, Not me! I would never ever let her do that. I did not forget to put sunscreen on the girls (that their mother sent specifically for them to use anytime they were outside) yesterday while we were at the splash pad. Aleigha wasn't into the splash pad that much so I did not let her sit on the towels (diaperless in her bathing suit) and pee everywhere and I most certainly did not let the other kids dry off with those same towels because that's all we had. Nope, Not me!

I have not been horribly slacking on my diet and my workouts for the last week. I have not, not worked out pretty much for the last two weeks even though I promised myself to walk atleast a mile every day.

And I most certainly did not put Aleigha in her highchair with a sucker so I could clean the kitchen without her tagging on my leg. Nope, Not me!

Last but not least, I am not going home to send all the kids outside to play while I cook dinner, so I can have peace & quiet (even though I got a phone call a little while ago from the oldest saying that the youngest 4 had been fighting & arguing all day and I made it clear that they would not get to play outside this afternoon).

Happy Not Me, everyone!

Full Week of Fun in the Sun

Henry's nieces & nephews stayed with us for a week, yes that's 5 extra kids in our household for a solid week. Last weekend we stayed busy. On Saturday we packed lunches & headed to the park all afternoon. My bestfriend, Arleen, joined us with her two boys, CJ & Brayden. Everyone had a great time, even Aleigha, being that she didn't get much of a nap. On Sunday we took them downtown to the splash pad to play around in the water. The bigger kids had a blast however Aleigha wasn't to fond of water splashing up all over her. She enjoyed watching from the sideline with Momma & Daddy. It was a nice sunny weekend spent outside with all kids in tow. They loved the splash pad so much we took them back afternoon after work.

Sunny Day, Sweepin' the clouds away

Saturday night Aleigha stayed the night with my Mom & Dad and Sunday I went and spent the day as well. Henry had a softball tournament so he didn't go. Lil Ray & Tyler came over as well and Aleigha & Tyler spent the day swimming in her little pool and playing outside. It was a nice sunny day.

Nana came to visit

Aleigha's Nana came in from Alabama this past weekend. She stayed with us Friday night. Aleigha talks to her on the phone (or shall I say listens quietly) so she knew who she was when she started talking. It was cute that she recognized her. On Saturday Nana cooked breakfast for us & then we did a little shopping. Before we left to go shopping Nana was getting ready & put her wig on. Well let's just say that it freaked Aleigha out a little bit. She was slowly backing up away from her until she got as close as she could to me. She knew it was still Nana but something just wasn't right. We laughed so hard cause Aleigha just didn't know what to think. Saturday afternoon we had to meet Andrea (Henry's sister) to take her back, it was a nice visit but very short. We wish she could of stayed longer but people gotta work right? Henry's nieces (Kiana-6 & Zahria-5) are coming this weekend to stay a week with us. We only get to see them 3 or 4 times a year so I'm excited! Aleigha needs to get to know her cousins. Hopefully we'll spend lots of time at my parents swimming and at the park.
